It is the view people hold which says that reason and thought are not the ways to determine what's true and right. Typically, anti-intellectuals are guided by emotion and values instead of reason. If you find people whose motives are driven by things like "saving face", "strength", "honor", or "fairness", then they are likely to be anti-intellectual as well.
